Preliminaries

 PRELIMINARIES

Preliminary 1

This first preliminary acted like a small window into my personal multiverse. For the “About Me”. I wanted the video to feel spontaneous instead of staged so instead of filming everything from scratch, i chose candid videos i already had in my gallery, along with a few clips of myself. I wanted it to be cutesy and have an informal tone so it feels personal. While i was planning the edit, i decided that i wanted the visuals to feel soft and nostalgic. which is why i chose Sunflower by Post Malone as the background music. I also included a short voiceover where I introduce myself so the audience could connect with me more directly.

I tried to focus on choosing clips that captured small everyday moments and emotions, which helped me create a more relatable and authentic feel. The shots varied from close-ups to medium shots, which prevented the video from feeling repetitive.

I edited the video using the mobile editing application InShot. The editing process involved trimming each clip and arranging them in a sequence that matched the rhythm of the music. The background track “Sunflower” was added to create a warm and uplifting atmosphere throughout the video, I also recorded a voiceover where I briefly introduced myself and layered it into the edit so that the audience could understand who I am while watching the visuals. My main goal was to make the edit feel cohesive while still keeping the spontaneous energy of the clips.

Preliminary 2

For my second preliminary, i made a short film called "Fractured Dimension: The First Ripple".  It was entirely inspired by psychological thriller and sci-fi media. I had a really low budget for it, I bought a small tripod which had some lights attached to it already, i adapted and compromised and made the lights work somehow. I used a lot of the "Spider-verse" element here.  My goal was to experiment with darker themes, lighting, and cinematic framing to create suspense and mystery. To really support this vibe i used Am I Dreaming by Metroboomin as the main sound track, which was also used in Spiderman: Across the Spider-verse. The slow, dream like tone of the music helped reinforce the psychological and surreal feeling I wanted the short film to have.

I experimented with different shot compositions such as close-ups and medium shots to emphasize tension and emotion, and because the film had a psychological thriller tone, I focused on creating dramatic visuals through framing and lighting rather than relying heavily on dialogue. For the editing, I feel like the entire short film really pops and stands out because of the editing. I used a lot of glitch effects to really incorporate the "multi-verse" feel into it.
